🍖 Tender Oven-Baked Spare Ribs
Ingredients (serves 3–4)
- 1 rack pork spare ribs
- Salt & pepper
Dry rub
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp chili powder (optional)
Glaze
- ¾ cup BBQ sauce
- 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
Instructions
- Prep ribs
- Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs (important!).
- Pat dry and rub ribs with dry rub on both sides.
- Slow bake
- Preheat oven to 300°F / 150°C.
- Wrap ribs tightly in foil and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake 2½–3 hours until meat is very tender.
- Glaze & finish
- Remove ribs from foil and place back on pan.
- Brush generously with BBQ sauce mixed with honey.
- Increase oven to 425°F / 220°C or broil.
- Cook 10–15 minutes until sticky and caramelized.
- Rest & serve
- Let rest 10 minutes, then slice and serve.
Pro Tips
- Fall-off-the-bone: Bake closer to 3 hours.
- Smoky flavor: Add ½ tsp liquid smoke to BBQ sauce.
- Not too sweet: Skip honey and use tangy BBQ sauce.
