Slow cooker beef stew

Slow Cooker Beef Stew 🥩🥔🥕
A warm, hearty dish where tender beef and vegetables cook slowly in a rich broth. It’s easy to prepare and perfect for a comforting meal.


Ingredients

  • 500–700 g beef stew meat, cut into chunks
  • 3 potatoes, chopped
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp flour or cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Instructions

  1. Prepare ingredients
    Cut the beef into chunks and chop the vegetables.
  2. Add to slow cooker
    Place beef, potatoes, carrots, onion, and garlic in the slow cooker.
  3. Add seasoning and broth
    Pour in the beef broth and add tomato paste, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.
  4. Cook
    • Low: 7–8 hours
    • High: 4–5 hours
      Cook until the beef is very tender.
  5. Thicken (optional)
    Mix flour or cornstarch with a little water and stir into the stew during the last 20 minutes.
  6. Serve
    Stir well and serve hot with bread or rice.

💡 Tips

  • Add peas or green beans in the last 30 minutes for extra vegetables.
  • Browning the beef in a pan before adding it to the slow cooker gives extra flavor.
  • A splash of Worcestershire sauce can make the stew richer.
