Shepherd’s pie

Got you. One last time, clean and simple — classic Shepherd’s Pie.


🥧 Shepherd’s Pie (traditional lamb)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg / 2 lb potatoes
  • 50 g / 4 tbsp butter
  • ~½ cup milk
  • Salt & pepper
  • 500 g / 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup lamb or beef stock
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp thyme or rosemary
  • 1 cup peas

Method

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until soft. Mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper.
  2. Brown lamb in oil. Add onion and carrots; cook until soft.
  3. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire, herbs, and stock. Simmer until thick.
  4. Add peas, season.
  5. Spread filling in a baking dish, top with mash.
  6. Bake at 200°C / 400°F for 25–30 min until golden.
