Orange cake

Orange cake is a moist, fragrant cake made with fresh orange juice and zest. It has a bright citrus flavor and can be light and fluffy or rich and dense depending on the style.


🍊 Classic Orange Cake (Simple & Moist)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • Zest of 1–2 oranges
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. Whisk sugar and eggs until slightly pale.
  3. Mix in oil (or butter), orange juice, and zest.
  4. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Pour into pan and bake 35–45 minutes.
  6. Cool before glazing.

🍯 Optional Orange Glaze

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp fresh orange juice

Drizzle over the cooled cake for extra citrus flavor.


🍰 Variations

  • Add poppy seeds for texture.
  • Use Greek yogurt for a softer crumb.
  • Make it as a bundt cake and brush with orange syrup while warm.
  • Add a little cardamom or vanilla for depth.
