How to Use Baking Soda to Remove Dark Spot

Posted on April 15, 2026 by Admin

โš ๏ธ Important first

Baking soda (Sodium bicarbonate) is not a dermatologist-recommended treatment for dark spots. It is very alkaline and can irritate skin or even worsen pigmentation if used too often.

Dark spots are better treated with sunscreen + proper skincare, but here is how people carefully use baking soda if they still choose to try it.

๐Ÿงด How to use baking soda for dark spots (safe method)

1. Gentle spot treatment

Steps:

  • Mix 1 teaspoon baking soda + a few drops of water
  • Make a thin paste (not thick or harsh)
  • Apply ONLY on the dark spot
  • Leave for 30 seconds to 1 minute max
  • Rinse with cool water
  • Apply moisturizer afterward

๐Ÿ•’ Use only 1โ€“2 times per week

2. Baking soda + honey (milder option)

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon honey (Honey)

How:

  • Mix gently
  • Apply on spot for 3โ€“5 minutes
  • Wash off and moisturize

๐Ÿ‘‰ Honey helps reduce irritation

โš ๏ธ What NOT to do

  • โŒ Donโ€™t apply on full face
  • โŒ Donโ€™t leave it for long
  • โŒ Donโ€™t use daily
  • โŒ Donโ€™t scrub hard
  • โŒ Donโ€™t use on acne or broken skin

๐ŸŒฟ Better (and safer) alternatives

For real dark spot removal, these work much better:

  • Sunscreen daily โ˜€๏ธ (most important)
  • Vitamin C serum
  • Niacinamide cream
  • Aloe vera gel

๐Ÿง  Bottom line

  • Baking soda can very mildly exfoliate
  • But it is risky and not the best option
  • Overuse can make dark spots worse

If you want, tell me:
๐Ÿ‘‰ your skin type (oily, dry, acne-prone)
๐Ÿ‘‰ or the type of dark spots

I can give you a safe routine that actually clears them faster ๐Ÿ‘
