Ground beef and potato hash

Posted on April 2, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple and hearty ground beef and potato hash recipe:

Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

  • 1/2 lb (225 g) ground beef
  • 2 medium potatoes, diced into small cubes
  • 1 small onion, chopped (optional, but adds flavor)
  • 1–2 tbsp oil (vegetable or olive oil)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: garlic, bell peppers, paprika, or herbs

Instructions

1. Prepare the potatoes

  1. Peel (if desired) and dice the potatoes into small cubes.
  2. Parboil in salted water for 5–7 minutes until slightly tender, then drain. This ensures they cook evenly and get crispy.

2. Cook the beef

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned and fully cooked (about 5–7 minutes).
  3. Season with salt, pepper, and optional spices.

3. Cook the potatoes

  1. Push the beef to one side of the skillet and add another tbsp of oil.
  2. Add the potatoes (and onion/peppers if using) and fry, stirring occasionally, until golden and crispy (about 10–12 minutes).

4. Combine and serve

  1. Mix the beef and potatoes together, taste, and adjust seasoning.
  2. Serve hot as a breakfast, brunch, or hearty dinner.

💡 Tips:

  • For extra crispiness, cook the potatoes without stirring for a few minutes before tossing.
  • You can top with a fried egg for a classic breakfast hash.

If you want, I can make a lighter, liver-friendly version of this hash suitable for fatty liver, keeping it flavorful but lower in saturated fat. Do you want me to do that?
