Here are a few easy, foolproof ways to cook a fish fillet—tender, flaky, and full of flavor 🐟

Simple Pan-Seared Fish Fillet (Best all-purpose)

Ingredients

  • Fish fillets (cod, tilapia, haddock, snapper, etc.)
  • Salt & black pepper
  • 1–2 tbsp oil or butter
  • Optional: lemon, garlic, herbs

Instructions

  1. Pat fillets very dry.
  2. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high until hot.
  4. Add fish; cook 2–4 minutes per side (depends on thickness).
  5. Finish with butter, lemon juice, or herbs.

Fish is done when it flakes easily and turns opaque.


Other Easy Methods

Baked

  • Heat oven to 200°C / 400°F.
  • Place fish in a dish, drizzle with oil, season.
  • Bake 10–15 minutes.
  • Finish with lemon or sauce.

Air Fryer

  • Preheat to 190°C / 375°F.
  • Lightly oil fish.
  • Air fry 8–10 minutes, flipping once.

Crispy Breaded

  • Coat in flour → egg → breadcrumbs or panko.
  • Pan-fry until golden, 3–4 min per side.
