Croquette

Posted on January 14, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic croquette recipe—crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside 🥔✨
(This is the traditional potato-based version; I’ll note variations below.)

Classic Potato Croquettes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (cold, smooth)
  • ½ cup cooked meat (ham, chicken, beef, or fish), finely chopped (optional)
  • ¼ cup grated cheese (optional)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream
  • Salt & black pepper
  • Optional: nutmeg, parsley

Breading

  • ½ cup flour
  • 1–2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko

For frying

  • Oil for deep or shallow frying

Instructions

  1. Mix mashed potatoes with butter, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  2. Fold in meat, cheese, or herbs if using.
  3. Shape into logs or balls.
  4. Roll in flour → egg → breadcrumbs.
  5. Chill 20–30 minutes (helps them hold shape).
  6. Fry at 175°C / 350°F until golden, 2–3 minutes.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Variations

  • Chicken croquettes: Add minced chicken + onion
  • Ham & cheese: Classic combo
  • Fish croquettes: Use tuna, salmon, or cod
  • Vegetable croquettes: Corn, peas, mushrooms
  • Japanese korokke: Use ground beef + onion, slightly sweet

Sauces to Serve With

  • Garlic mayo or aioli
  • Ketchup or chili sauce
  • Mustard sauce
  • Gravy (for potato croquettes)

If you want a specific style (Japanese korokke, Spanish croquetas with béchamel, or air-fryer version), tell me which one and I’ll tailor it.
