How to boil an egg

  1. Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil.
  3. Once boiling, cook:
    • 6–7 minutes → soft-boiled (runny yolk)
    • 8–9 minutes → medium (jammy yolk)
    • 10–12 minutes → hard-boiled (fully set)
  4. Transfer eggs to cold water for a few minutes, then peel.
