Ingredients
- 1 large russet potato
- Olive oil or butter
- Salt
Steps
- Heat oven to 220°C / 425°F.
- Scrub the potato clean and dry it well.
- Prick all over with a fork.
- Rub lightly with oil and sprinkle with salt.
- Place directly on the oven rack (or on a tray).
- Bake 45–60 minutes, until a knife slides in easily.

Microwave (fast option)
- Prick potato with a fork.
- Microwave on high 5 minutes, turn, then 3–5 more minutes.
- For crispy skin, finish in a hot oven or pan for 5–10 minutes.
