Baked potato

Here’s a simple, classic baked potato—crispy outside, fluffy inside 🥔

Oven Method (best texture)

Ingredients

  • 1 large russet potato
  • Olive oil or butter
  • Salt

Steps

  1. Heat oven to 220°C / 425°F.
  2. Scrub the potato clean and dry it well.
  3. Prick all over with a fork.
  4. Rub lightly with oil and sprinkle with salt.
  5. Place directly on the oven rack (or on a tray).
  6. Bake 45–60 minutes, until a knife slides in easily.
  7. Slice open, fluff the inside with a fork, add toppings.

Microwave (fast option)

  1. Prick potato with a fork.
  2. Microwave on high 5 minutes, turn, then 3–5 more minutes.
  3. For crispy skin, finish in a hot oven or pan for 5–10 minutes.

Topping ideas

  • Butter + sour cream + chives
  • Cheddar cheese + bacon
  • Greek yogurt + garlic + herbs
  • Chili or baked beans
  • Olive oil + salt + pepper (simple & great)
