🥔 Perfect Baked Potato

Ingredients (serves 2–4)

  • 2–4 large russet potatoes (russets work best for fluffy insides)
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt

Optional toppings: butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, bacon bits, chives, broccoli, chili, etc.


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F / 220°C.
  2. Prepare potatoes: Scrub potatoes clean. Pat dry.
  3. Pierce & coat: Use a fork to poke 6–8 holes in each potato. Rub with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.
  4. Bake: Place directly on the oven rack or a baking sheet. Bake 45–60 minutes, depending on size, until a fork or skewer slides easily into the center.
  5. Serve: Slice open the top, fluff the insides with a fork, and add desired toppings.

Tips

  • Crispier skin: Bake directly on the oven rack, not a pan.
  • Faster option: Microwave 5–10 minutes first, then finish in oven for crispy skin.
  • Flavor boost: Rub skins with garlic powder, paprika, or herbs.
  • Loaded potato: Add cheese, bacon, sour cream, chives, or even chili for a hearty meal.
