Here’s a teen-friendly guide and recipe for fried chicken—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside! 🍗


Basic Idea

  • Chicken pieces: Drumsticks, thighs, wings, or breasts.
  • Coating: Usually flour seasoned with salt, pepper, and spices.
  • Cooking method: Deep-fried or pan-fried until golden brown.

Simple Recipe (Pan-Fried Version)

Ingredients (serves 2–3):

  • 4 chicken pieces (drumsticks or thighs work best)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika or garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 2–3 tbsp vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prep the chicken:
    • Rinse and pat dry the chicken pieces.
    • Soak in milk or buttermilk for 15–30 minutes (optional, makes it juicier).
  2. Make the coating:
    • In a shallow bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, and any optional spices.
    • Dredge chicken in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  3. Fry the chicken:
    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Add chicken pieces and cook 5–7 minutes per side, until golden brown and fully cooked (internal temp 165°F / 74°C).
  4. Drain & serve:
    • Place cooked chicken on paper towels to drain extra oil.
    • Serve hot with fries, mashed potatoes, or a salad.

Tips:

  • Extra crispy: Double-dip the chicken in milk and flour for a thicker crust.
  • Flavor twist: Add cayenne, paprika, or garlic powder to the flour for more kick.
  • Shortcut: Oven-fried method—bake at 425°F (220°C) for 25–30 minutes on a greased sheet for less oil.
