Sweet potato pie

Here’s a classic Sweet Potato Pie recipe 🍠🥧


Ingredients (for 1 9-inch pie)

For the filling

  • 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes (about 2–3 medium sweet potatoes)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt

For the crust

  • 1 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare filling
    • Boil or bake sweet potatoes until tender.
    • Peel and mash until smooth.
    • In a large bowl, combine mashed sweet potatoes, sugar, butter, milk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix until smooth.
  3. Assemble pie
    • Place pie crust in a 9-inch pie pan.
    • Pour sweet potato filling into the crust and smooth the top.
  4. Bake
    Bake 55–60 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  5. Cool & serve
    Let pie cool completely before slicing. Serve plain or with whipped cream.

Tips

  • For extra flavor, add ½ tsp ginger or a pinch of cloves.
  • Mash sweet potatoes thoroughly for a silky texture.
  • Can make mini pies using a muffin tin for individual servings.

I can also give a sweet potato pie with a graham cracker crust or a lighter version with less sugar.
