  3. Cream butter & sugar
    • In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  4. Combine wet & dry
    • Alternately add dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
  5. Add pecans
    • Fold in chopped pecans.
  6. Bake
    • Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle extra pecans on top.
    • Bake 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool & glaze (optional)
    • Let bread cool 10–15 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack.
    • For glaze: mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla; drizzle over cooled bread.
