Here’s a classic steak dinner with creamy mashed potatoes and tender green beans—simple, balanced, and delicious. 🥩🥔🥦


🥩 Steak with Mashed Potatoes & Green Beans

🧾 Ingredients (2 servings)

Steak

  • 2 steaks (ribeye, sirloin, or strip)
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Optional: 1 garlic clove & fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)

Mashed Potatoes

  • 500 g (1 lb) potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup milk or cream (warm)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Green Beans

  • 250 g (½ lb) green beans, trimmed
  • 1 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • Optional: garlic or lemon juice

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Mashed Potatoes

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (15–20 minutes).
  2. Drain well and mash with butter, warm milk, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cover to keep warm.

2️⃣ Green Beans

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Cook green beans 3–5 minutes until tender-crisp.
  3. Drain and toss with butter or olive oil, salt, and pepper.
    • Optional: sauté briefly with garlic or finish with lemon juice.

3️⃣ Steak

  1. Remove steaks from fridge 20 minutes before cooking.
  2. Pat dry and season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat a skillet over high heat; add oil or butter.
  4. Sear steaks 2–4 minutes per side (depending on thickness and doneness).
  5. Optional: add garlic and herbs, baste with butter.
  6. Rest steaks 5 minutes before serving.

  • Rare: 2 min/side
  • Medium-rare: 3 min/side
  • Medium: 4 min/side
  • Well-done: 5+ min/side

🍽️ Serving Tip

Plate mashed potatoes first, top with steak, and serve green beans on the side. Spoon a little pan butter over the steak for extra flavor.
