Ohhh Steak and Eggs 🥩🍳—a classic, hearty meal that works just as well for breakfast as it does for dinner. Simple, bold, and satisfying.

Classic Steak and Eggs

Servings: 1–2
Prep time: 5 min
Cook time: 10–15 min

Ingredients

  • 1 ribeye, sirloin, or strip steak (8–12 oz)
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil (olive or vegetable)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2–4 eggs
  • Optional: garlic clove or fresh thyme/rosemary

Instructions

  1. Bring steak to room temp
    • Take steak out of the fridge 20–30 minutes before cooking. Pat dry.
  2. Season & sear steak
    • Season generously with salt and pepper.
    • Heat oil in a skillet over high heat.
    • Sear steak 3–4 minutes per side (medium-rare) or to your doneness preference.
    • Add butter, garlic, and herbs during the last minute and baste.
    • Remove steak and let rest 5 minutes.
  3. Cook eggs
    • In the same pan or a separate pan, cook eggs to your liking (sunny-side up, over easy, or scrambled).
    • Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  4. Serve
    • Slice steak against the grain.
    • Serve alongside eggs with extra pan butter drizzled over the top.

🔥 Pro Tips

  • Best steak: Ribeye for richness, sirloin for leaner bite
  • Egg style: Sunny-side up or over-easy is classic—runny yolk = perfect sauce
  • Extras: Add hash browns, toast, or sautĂ©ed mushrooms
  • Sauce upgrade: Chimichurri or garlic butter takes it next level
