🍝 Spaghetti with Minced Meat

Serves 4


Ingredients

  • 12 oz (340 g) spaghetti
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or pork
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz / 400 g) tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • Optional: ½ tsp red pepper flakes for a kick
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

1. Cook Spaghetti

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to boil.
  2. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2. Prepare the Meat Sauce

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sauté onion until soft, 3–4 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  4. Add minced meat and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces.
  5. Stir in tomato paste, then add tomato sauce.
  6. Add oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  7. Simmer 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens.

3. Combine & Serve

  1. Toss spaghetti with meat sauce or serve sauce over spaghetti.
  2. Top with grated Parmesan and fresh herbs if desired.

💡 Tips

  • For richer flavor, add a splash of red wine when cooking the meat.
  • For a thicker sauce, simmer longer or add a pinch of sugar to balance acidity.
  • Add vegetables like bell peppers, mushrooms, or zucchini for extra nutrition.
