Ahhh yes 😌 Salisbury steak—classic comfort food: juicy beef patties smothered in rich mushroom gravy. Let’s make it the way it deserves.

🥩 Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients

For the patties:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the gravy:

  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix patties: Combine beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, onion, Worcestershire, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 oval-shaped patties.
  2. Brown patties: Heat a skillet over medium heat with a little oil. Brown patties 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. Make gravy: In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté mushrooms until tender. Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and cook 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Add liquid: Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until thickened.
  5. Simmer patties: Return patties to skillet, cover, and simmer 15–20 minutes until fully cooked and flavors meld.
  6. Serve: Spoon mushroom gravy over patties.

🔥 Pro Tips

  • Use 80/20 beef—leaner meat dries out.
  • Don’t skip browning—it adds flavor.
  • Add a splash of cream or sour cream to the gravy for extra richness.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes or buttered noodles for ultimate comfort.

If you want, I can give you a slow cooker Salisbury steak version that’s practically foolproof and melts in your mouth 😏

Do you want me to do that?
