Potatoes and onions

Here’s a simple, delicious potatoes & onions recipe—crispy, comforting, and goes with almost anything 🥔🧅


Fried Potatoes and Onions (Skillet Style)

Ingredients

  • 4–5 potatoes, peeled or scrubbed, sliced or diced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)
  • Garlic powder or fresh garlic (optional)

Instructions

  1. Parboil potatoes (optional but recommended)
    • Boil potatoes in salted water for 5–7 minutes until just tender. Drain well.
  2. Heat the skillet
    • Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook potatoes
    • Add potatoes in a single layer. Let them cook undisturbed 4–5 minutes to crisp.
    • Flip and continue cooking until golden.
  4. Add onions
    • Add onions and seasonings. Cook 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are soft and caramelized.
  5. Taste & serve
    • Adjust seasoning and serve hot.

Variations

  • 🧄 Add garlic at the end
  • 🧀 Sprinkle with cheese
  • 🌿 Finish with fresh parsley or thyme
  • 🥓 Cook in bacon grease for extra flavor
