Potato meatball bake

🥔🍖 Potato Meatball Bake (Easy & Comforting)

Ingredients

  • 500 g (about 1 lb) potatoes, peeled & sliced
  • 300–400 g meatballs (beef, chicken, or veggie)
  • 1 cup tomato sauce or pasta sauce
  • ½ cup cream or milk (optional, for creamier bake)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Salt & pepper
  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika, dried herbs

Steps

  1. Heat oven to 190°C / 375°F.
  2. Boil potato slices in salted water 5–7 minutes until just tender. Drain.
  3. Lightly oil a baking dish.
  4. Layer half the potatoes, season with salt & pepper.
  5. Add meatballs evenly on top.
  6. Pour tomato sauce (and cream if using) over everything.
  7. Add remaining potatoes and sprinkle cheese on top.
  8. Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes.
  9. Remove foil and bake 10–15 minutes more until bubbly and golden.

Tips & Variations

  • Add onions or bell peppers for extra flavor 🧅🫑
  • Use mashed potatoes instead of slices for a pie-style bake
  • Sprinkle herbs or chili flakes on top if you like mild spice
