Ingredients

  • Optional: a pinch of sugar (if tomatoes are very acidic)

Instructions

  1. Prep the vegetables:
    • Slice or chop the tomatoes and onions.
    • Place in a large bowl.
  2. Dress the salad:
    • Drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the tomatoes.
    • Season with salt and pepper.
    • Toss gently to combine without crushing the tomatoes.
  3. Add extras:
    • Sprinkle fresh basil and cheese if desired.
    • Add a pinch of sugar if tomatoes taste too tart.
  4. Serve:
    • Let sit 5–10 minutes for flavors to blend, then enjoy.
