Pan-fried halloumi

Posted on February 28, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple and delicious way to make Pan-Fried Halloumi — golden, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfect as an appetizer, salad topping, or side dish.

🧀 Pan-Fried Halloumi

Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

  • 8 oz (225 g) halloumi cheese, sliced 1/4–1/2 inch thick
  • 1–2 tsp olive oil (optional; halloumi is naturally oily)
  • Optional: lemon wedges, fresh herbs, or chili flakes for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare halloumi
    • Slice the halloumi and pat dry with paper towels. This helps it crisp without sticking.
  2. Heat pan
    • Preheat a non-stick or cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add a little olive oil if desired.
  3. Fry halloumi
    • Place slices in the hot pan. Fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp. Do not overcrowd the pan.
  4. Serve
    • Serve immediately while warm. Squeeze with fresh lemon juice and sprinkle with herbs or chili flakes if desired.

Tips

  • Don’t overcook — halloumi melts slightly if cooked too long. Golden crisp edges with a soft center are ideal.
  • Pair with salads, roasted vegetables, or flatbreads.
  • For extra flavor, drizzle with honey or balsamic glaze.
  • Can also grill halloumi for a smoky flavor.

I can also share a few creative serving ideas, like halloumi tacos, halloumi skewers, or a warm halloumi and tomato salad if you want.
