Orange cake

Here’s a moist and flavorful Orange Cake recipe 🍊🎂

Ingredients (for 9×13-inch cake or 8–9-inch round cake)

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • Zest of 1–2 oranges
  • ½ cup buttermilk (or plain yogurt)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional Orange Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp orange juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your pan.
  2. Mix dry ingredients
    In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream butter & sugar
    In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time.
  4. Add wet ingredients
    Stir in orange juice, orange zest, buttermilk, and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Combine
    Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined. Don’t overmix.
  6. Bake
    Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 30–35 minutes (for 9×13) or 40–45 minutes (for round pan) until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Glaze (optional)
    Mix powdered sugar and orange juice until smooth. Drizzle over warm cake.

Tips

  • For extra orange flavor, add orange extract (¼ tsp).
  • Can frost with cream cheese frosting or whipped cream for a layered cake.
  • Garnish with orange slices or zest for presentation.
