Mounds Bars (Homemade Copycat) 🥥🍫 — rich, sweet coconut centers coated in smooth dark chocolate, just like the classic candy bar.


Ingredients (Makes about 12 bars)

🥥 Coconut Filling

  • 2 ½ cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

🍫 Chocolate Coating

  • 2 cups semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or shortening (for smooth coating)

Instructions

1️⃣ Make the Coconut Filling

  • In a bowl, mix shredded coconut, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, and salt until well combined.
  • Shape mixture into small bars or oval mounds.
  • Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Freeze for 20–30 minutes until firm.

2️⃣ Melt Chocolate

  • Melt chocolate chips and coconut oil in microwave (30-second intervals, stirring between) or over a double boiler.
  • Stir until smooth.

3️⃣ Dip the Bars

  • Using a fork, dip each frozen coconut mound into melted chocolate.
  • Let excess drip off, then place back on parchment paper.

4️⃣ Set

  • Refrigerate 20–30 minutes until chocolate is firm.

Tips

  • Use dark chocolate for a more authentic flavor.
  • Keep bars chilled for clean slicing and firm texture.
  • For an Almond Joy-style version, press a whole almond on top before dipping in chocolate.
