Here’s a classic Meatloaf recipe 🍖—tender, flavorful, and comfort food at its best:
Ingredients (serves 4–6)
- 500 g (1 lb) ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp ketchup (plus more for topping)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1 tsp dried oregano (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven
- Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
2. Mix the meatloaf
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, ketchup, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano.
- Mix until well combined (but don’t overwork the meat).
3. Shape and bake
- Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf shape.
- Spread a thin layer of ketchup on top for a glossy finish.
- Bake for 45–60 minutes until the meatloaf is cooked through (internal temperature should be 71°C / 160°F).
4. Serve
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with mashed potatoes, veggies, or your favorite sides.
💡 Tips
- If you want a juicy meatloaf, make sure not to overmix.
- For extra flavor, you can add grated cheese or finely chopped vegetables (carrots, bell peppers) to the mix.
- Leftovers make great sandwiches the next day!
I can also give a 5-ingredient meatloaf version using just ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, and seasonings for a super easy recipe.
