Meatloaf

Here’s a classic Meatloaf recipe—moist, flavorful, and perfect for dinner 🍖


Classic Meatloaf

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 1½ lbs ground beef (or mix beef/pork)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp ketchup (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Optional: 1 tsp dried herbs (thyme, oregano, or parsley)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. Mix meatloaf
    • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, milk, eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and optional herbs.
    • Mix until just combined (don’t overmix).
  3. Shape & top
    • Shape mixture into a loaf and place in the pan.
    • Spread a thin layer of ketchup on top.
  4. Bake
    • Bake 55–65 minutes until cooked through (internal temperature 160°F / 71°C).
  5. Rest & serve
    • Let rest 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve with mashed potatoes, vegetables, or a side salad.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra moist: Add grated zucchini or carrot to the mixture.
  • Cheesy: Insert a layer of shredded cheese in the center.
  • Glazed topping: Mix ketchup with brown sugar or BBQ sauce for a sweeter glaze.
  • Make ahead: Assemble and refrigerate overnight; bake the next day.
