🍯🧄 Honey Garlic Ribs

Serves 4–6


Ingredients

Ribs

  • 2–3 lb (1–1.4 kg) pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • Salt & black pepper

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 4–6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Optional heat: chili flakes or sriracha
  • Optional: 1 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

1. Prepare the ribs

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F / 165°C.
  2. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs.
  3. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  4. Place ribs on a foil-lined baking tray and cover tightly with foil.

2. Bake (tenderizing step)

  • Bake 1½–2 hours until ribs are very tender.

3. Make the sauce

  1. Combine honey, soy sauce, garlic, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, pepper, and sesame oil in a saucepan.
  2. Simmer over medium heat 5–8 minutes, stirring, until slightly thickened.

4. Glaze & caramelize

  1. Remove foil from ribs.
  2. Brush generously with honey garlic sauce.
  3. Increase oven to 425°F / 220°C.
  4. Bake uncovered 10–15 minutes, brushing once more, until sticky and caramelized.
  5. Optional: Broil 2–3 minutes for extra char (watch closely).

🔥 Optional Finishing Methods

  • Grill: Finish on a hot grill 3–5 minutes per side.
  • Air fryer: 375°F / 190°C for 5–7 minutes.

🍽️ Serve With

  • Coleslaw
  • Baked beans
  • Corn on the cob
  • Mashed potatoes

💡 Tips

  • Don’t oversalt—the soy sauce adds saltiness
  • Low and slow baking = tender ribs
  • Sauce thickens more as it cools
