Ham and cheese sticks

Here’s a Ham and Cheese Sticks recipe 🥓🧀—crispy, cheesy, and perfect for snacks or appetizers.


Ingredients (makes ~12 sticks)

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 6–8 slices deli ham
  • 6–8 slices cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your choice)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or herbs for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • 400°F (200°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare puff pastry
    • Roll out puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
    • Cut into 12 equal rectangles (or strips if you want thinner sticks).
  3. Assemble sticks
    • Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on half of each rectangle.
    • Fold pastry over to cover filling and press edges to seal.
    • Optional: twist gently for a spiral effect.
  4. Add egg wash
    • Brush the tops with beaten egg.
    • Sprinkle seeds or herbs if desired.
  5. Bake
    • Bake 15–20 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
    • Cool slightly before serving.

Tips & Variations

  • Spicy twist: add a thin layer of mustard or horseradish sauce.
  • Mini version: cut puff pastry into smaller squares for bite-sized sticks.
  • Cheese variety: try pepper jack, mozzarella, or a mix of cheeses.
  • Make ahead: assemble and freeze uncooked sticks; bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes.
