Grilled cheese sandwich

Here’s a classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich 🥪🧀—crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside.


Ingredients (per sandwich)

  • 2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or your favorite)
  • 2 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or a mix)
  • 1–2 tsp butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Butter the bread:
    Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Assemble the sandwich:
    Place cheese slices between the unbuttered sides of the bread, so the buttered sides are on the outside.
  3. Cook:
    • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
    • Place the sandwich in the pan.
    • Cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
    • Press lightly with a spatula to get an even crust.
  4. Serve:
    Slice in half and enjoy hot with soup, fries, or just on its own.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra cheesy: Use 2–3 types of cheese or add mozzarella for stretchiness.
  • Add-ins: Tomato slices, ham, bacon, or avocado.
  • Crispier: Grill on medium-low heat longer for an even crunch without burning.
  • Healthier: Use whole-grain bread and less butter, or spray pan with oil spray.
