🥪 Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients (serves 1–2)

  • 2 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or whole wheat)
  • 2 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your favorite melting cheese)
  • 1–2 tbsp butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Prep the bread
    • Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice.
  2. Assemble
    • Place one slice, butter-side down, in a heated skillet.
    • Add cheese slices on top.
    • Place the second slice on top, butter-side up.
  3. Grill
    • Cook over medium heat 2–4 minutes per side until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
    • Press lightly with a spatula for even melting.
  4. Serve
    • Slice diagonally and serve hot. Optional: with tomato soup or pickles.

  • Medium heat prevents burnt bread and ensures cheese melts.
  • Cover pan briefly if cheese melts slowly.
