Posted on January 12, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic croquette recipe 🥔✨ — crispy on the outside, soft and creamy inside.

🧆 Classic Croquettes (Potato-Based)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (cold, smooth)
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup grated cheese (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • Optional fillings: ham, chicken, beef, tuna, or vegetables

Breading

  • ½ cup flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko works great)

For frying

  • Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Make the mixture
In a bowl, combine mashed potatoes, egg, butter, cheese (if using), salt, and pepper.
    Fold in any fillings.
  2. Shape croquettes
Roll mixture into logs or balls.
  3. Chill
Refrigerate 20–30 minutes to help them hold shape.
  4. Bread
Roll croquettes in flour → egg → breadcrumbs.
  5. Fry
    Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry croquettes 2–3 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Drain & serve
Drain on paper towels. Serve hot.

Tips for Perfect Croquettes

  • Use cold mashed potatoes for easier shaping
  • Chill before frying to prevent splitting
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan
