Crockpot Salisbury Steak 🍖🥔
Ingredients (4 servings)
Steaks
- 1½ lbs ground beef (80/20 is ideal)
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (or panko)
- 1 egg
- 1 packet onion soup mix (or see DIY below)
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp black pepper
Gravy
- 1½ cups beef broth
- 1 packet brown gravy mix
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced (optional but highly recommended)
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- Mix & shape
In a bowl, combine all steak ingredients. Gently mix (don’t overwork) and form into oval patties. - Optional but clutch: sear
Brown patties in a skillet with a little oil—about 1–2 min per side.
This adds flavor but you can skip if you’re short on time. - Layer the crockpot
Add onions and mushrooms to the bottom. Place patties on top. - Gravy time
Whisk beef broth + gravy mix + garlic. Pour over everything. - Cook
- LOW: 6–7 hours
- HIGH: 3–4 hours
Until patties are tender and cooked through.
- Serve
Spoon that gravy generously over:- Mashed potatoes (classic)
- Egg noodles
- Rice
- Or even thick toast
Easy DIY Onion Soup Mix (if needed)
- 2 tbsp dried onion flakes
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp sugar
- ¼ tsp paprika
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Extra upgrades
- Stir in 2–3 tbsp sour cream at the end for creamy gravy
- Add frozen pearl onions for extra cozy vibes
- Swap beef for ground turkey (add a little oil to keep it juicy)
