Creamy Garlic Butter Chicken & Linguine Alfredo

Serves 4

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (sliced)
  • Salt & black pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Pasta

  • 12 oz linguine
  • Salt for pasta water

Alfredo Sauce

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • Salt & black pepper
  • ¼ cup reserved pasta water (as needed)

Optional Garnish

  • Fresh parsley
  • Extra Parmesan
  • Red pepper flakes

Instructions

1. Cook the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Cook linguine until al dente.
  • Reserve ¼ cup pasta water, then drain.

2. Cook the Chicken

  • Season chicken with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  • Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden and fully cooked.
  • Add garlic and sauté 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.

3. Make the Alfredo Sauce

  • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  • Stir in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer (do not boil).
  • Add Parmesan, garlic powder, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer 3–5 minutes until thickened.

4. Combine

  • Add linguine to the sauce, tossing to coat.
  • Add pasta water as needed for a silky texture.
  • Slice chicken and return to skillet, mixing gently.

5. Serve

  • Garnish with parsley, extra Parmesan, and red pepper flakes.
  • Serve hot.

Helpful Tips

  • Freshly grated Parmesan melts smoother than pre-shredded.
  • Keep heat low once cheese is added to avoid grainy sauce.
  • Add mushrooms, spinach, or broccoli for variety.
