🥛 Creamy Baked Milk Dessert
A rich, custardy dessert with a smooth texture, similar to baked custard or flan, perfect as a comforting sweet treat.
Ingredients (4–6 servings)
- 2 cups milk
- ½ cup heavy cream (optional for extra richness)
- ½ cup sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional: a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg
- Optional topping: caramel sauce, fruit, or whipped cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven: 160°C / 325°F. Grease a baking dish or individual ramekins.
- Heat milk:
- Warm milk and cream in a saucepan until just below boiling. Remove from heat.
- Mix eggs & sugar:
- In a bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, vanilla, and optional spices until smooth.
- Combine:
- Slowly pour warm milk into the egg mixture while whisking to prevent curdling.
- Bake in a water bath:
- Pour mixture into prepared dish or ramekins.
- Place in a larger baking pan. Fill the pan with hot water halfway up the sides of the dish.
- Bake 35–45 minutes, until set but slightly jiggly in the center.
- Cool & serve:
- Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 1–2 hours.
- Serve with caramel sauce, fresh fruit, or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Tips
- Use whole milk and cream for the creamiest texture.
- A water bath prevents the custard from cracking.
- Can be made in individual ramekins for elegant presentation.
