Creamy baked milk dessert

🥛 Creamy Baked Milk Dessert

A rich, custardy dessert with a smooth texture, similar to baked custard or flan, perfect as a comforting sweet treat.


Ingredients (4–6 servings)

  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream (optional for extra richness)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg
  • Optional topping: caramel sauce, fruit, or whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: 160°C / 325°F. Grease a baking dish or individual ramekins.
  2. Heat milk:
    • Warm milk and cream in a saucepan until just below boiling. Remove from heat.
  3. Mix eggs & sugar:
    • In a bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, vanilla, and optional spices until smooth.
  4. Combine:
    • Slowly pour warm milk into the egg mixture while whisking to prevent curdling.
  5. Bake in a water bath:
    • Pour mixture into prepared dish or ramekins.
    • Place in a larger baking pan. Fill the pan with hot water halfway up the sides of the dish.
    • Bake 35–45 minutes, until set but slightly jiggly in the center.
  6. Cool & serve:
    • Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 1–2 hours.
    • Serve with caramel sauce, fresh fruit, or a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Tips

  • Use whole milk and cream for the creamiest texture.
  • A water bath prevents the custard from cracking.
  • Can be made in individual ramekins for elegant presentation.
