Coca-Cola chocolate cake

Posted on December 28, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a Coca-Cola Chocolate Cake recipe 🍫🥤
This classic Southern dessert is moist, rich, and has a subtle cola flavor that makes the chocolate extra tender.

Ingredients (for 9×13-inch cake)

Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup Coca-Cola (not diet)
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Frosting

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup Coca-Cola
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

2. Make Cake Batter

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter.
  2. Add Coca-Cola and cocoa powder, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla.
  4. Gradually stir in the butter/cocoa/cola mixture.
  5. Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until just combined.

3. Bake

  • Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

4. Make Frosting

  1. In a small saucepan, melt butter with cocoa powder and Coca-Cola over medium heat.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.

5. Frost Cake

  • Pour warm frosting over the warm cake so it seeps in slightly.
  • Let cake cool completely before serving.

Tips

  • Use real Coca-Cola, not diet, for the best flavor and moisture.
  • Optional: add chopped pecans on top for crunch.
  • Cake tastes even better the next day after flavors meld.

I can also give you a quick one-bowl Coca-Cola chocolate cake version or a cupcake version if you want.
