A quick, savory snack made with flaky puff pastry and a cheesy beef filling—great for tea time or party appetizers.

📝 Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry (store-bought, thawed)
  • 300 g minced beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1 tsp paprika or red chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (optional)
  • 1 tbsp ketchup or chili sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp oil or butter
  • Optional: chopped green chilies or capsicum

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Cook the beef
    • Heat oil in a pan.
    • Sauté onion until soft, add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
    • Add minced beef and cook until browned.
  2. Season
    • Add salt, black pepper, paprika, soy sauce, and ketchup.
    • Cook until mixture is dry (no excess liquid).
    • Let the filling cool slightly.
  3. Prepare pastry
    • Preheat oven to 200 °C (400 °F).
    • Roll out puff pastry and cut into squares (about 4–5 inches).
  4. Fill
    • Place a spoonful of beef mixture in the center.
    • Sprinkle cheese on top.
  5. Fold
    • Fold pastry into triangles or rectangles.
    • Seal edges with a fork.
  6. Egg wash
    • Brush tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Bake
    • Bake 15–20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.

  • Sprinkle sesame seeds or nigella seeds (kalonji) on top for extra flavor.
  • Add a little cream cheese to the filling for extra creaminess.
  • Serve with chili garlic sauce or ketchup.
