🧀 Cheesy Baked Meatballs

A rich, comforting dish made with juicy meatballs baked in a creamy cheese sauce and topped with melted cheese.

🥩 Ingredients

For the Meatballs

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley

For the Cheese Sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1½ cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup Parmesan
  • Salt and pepper to taste

🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the meatballs

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, Parmesan, milk, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and parsley.
  • Form into medium-sized meatballs.

2. Brown the meatballs

  • Heat a skillet with a little oil.
  • Sear the meatballs for 3–4 minutes per side until browned (they don’t need to cook fully).

3. Make the cheese sauce

  • Melt butter in a saucepan.
  • Stir in flour and cook 1 minute.
  • Slowly whisk in milk until smooth and thick.
  • Add mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan.
  • Stir until melted and creamy.

4. Bake

  • Place meatballs in a baking dish.
  • Pour the cheese sauce over them.
  • Sprinkle extra mozzarella on top.

5. Finish

  • Bake for 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  • Garnish with parsley.

  • Over pasta
  • With mashed potatoes
  • With garlic bread
  • On rice or roasted vegetables
