🧀 Cheesy Baked Meatballs
A rich, comforting dish made with juicy meatballs baked in a creamy cheese sauce and topped with melted cheese.
🥩 Ingredients
For the Meatballs
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
For the Cheese Sauce
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1½ cups milk
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- ½ cup cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup Parmesan
- Salt and pepper to taste
🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the meatballs
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, Parmesan, milk, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and parsley.
- Form into medium-sized meatballs.
2. Brown the meatballs
- Heat a skillet with a little oil.
- Sear the meatballs for 3–4 minutes per side until browned (they don’t need to cook fully).
3. Make the cheese sauce
- Melt butter in a saucepan.
- Stir in flour and cook 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in milk until smooth and thick.
- Add mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan.
- Stir until melted and creamy.
4. Bake
- Place meatballs in a baking dish.
- Pour the cheese sauce over them.
- Sprinkle extra mozzarella on top.
5. Finish
- Bake for 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with parsley.
