Cabbage mash

Cabbage mash is a simple, healthy side dish that’s similar to mashed potatoes but lighter and lower in carbs. 🥬🥔


Creamy Cabbage Mash

Ingredients

  • 1 small Cabbage (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2–3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ¼ cup milk or cream
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Optional: 1 small Potato (for extra creaminess)

Instructions

1️⃣ Boil the cabbage

  • Put chopped cabbage in a pot with salted water.
  • Boil 10–12 minutes until very soft.

2️⃣ Drain well

  • Remove as much water as possible so the mash isn’t watery.

3️⃣ Sauté garlic

  • Melt butter in a pan and cook garlic 30–60 seconds.

4️⃣ Mash everything

  • Add cabbage to the pan.
  • Mash with a potato masher.
  • Add milk, salt, and pepper.

5️⃣ Blend (optional)
For super smooth mash, blend briefly.

You can mix in:

  • Grated Cheddar cheese 🧀
  • Crispy Bacon bits
  • Chopped parsley or green onions

  • Grilled chicken 🍗
  • Pan-seared fish 🐟
  • Roast beef

💡 Tip:
Roasting the cabbage first instead of boiling gives a richer, slightly sweet flavor.
