Here’s a soft, fluffy homemade bread roll recipe—perfect for dinner, sandwiches, or sliders 🍞


Soft Bread Rolls

Ingredients (makes 12 rolls)

  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast
    • Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
    • Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make dough
    • Add melted butter, egg, salt, and flour.
    • Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead
    • Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise
    • Place dough in greased bowl, cover.
    • Rise 1–1½ hours until doubled.
  5. Shape rolls
    • Divide into 12 equal pieces.
    • Shape into balls and place in greased baking dish.
  6. Second rise
    • Cover and rise 30–45 minutes.
  7. Bake
    • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–18 minutes until golden.
  8. Finish
    • Brush with melted butter. Serve warm.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra soft: Replace half the milk with warm water and add 1 extra tbsp butter.
  • Crusty top: Brush with egg wash before baking.
  • Garlic rolls: Brush with garlic butter after baking.
  • Make ahead: Shape rolls and refrigerate overnight, bake next day.
