Hereβs a simple, foolproof way to make boiled eggs π₯
Boiled Eggs
Makes as many eggs as you want
Ingredients
- Eggs
- Water
How to Boil Eggs
1. Place Eggs in Pot
- Put eggs in a single layer in a saucepan.
- Add cold water to cover eggs by about 1 inch.
2. Bring to a Boil
- Heat uncovered on high until water reaches a rolling boil.
3. Cooking Times
Once boiling, reduce heat to a gentle boil or turn off heat and cover:
- Soft-boiled: 4β5 minutes (runny yolk)
- Medium-boiled: 6β7 minutes (jammy center)
- Hard-boiled: 9β10 minutes (fully set yolk)
4. Cool the Eggs
- Transfer eggs immediately to ice water for 5 minutes.
- This stops cooking and makes peeling easier.
5. Peel or Store
- Tap gently and peel from the wider end.
- Store unpeeled eggs in the fridge up to 7 days.
Tips
- Older eggs peel easier than very fresh ones.
- Add a splash of vinegar or salt to the water if desired (helps with cracking, not required).
- Roll eggs gently on the counter to crack shells evenly before peeling.
