Banana bread in a jar

Posted on December 29, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a Banana Bread in a Jar recipe 🍌🥣—perfect for gifts, meal prep, or single servings.

Ingredients (makes 3–4 jars, 8 oz each)

  • 2 medium ripe bananas, mashed
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup sugar (can use brown sugar)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Optional: ¼ cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease 3–4 clean 8-oz heat-safe jars.
  2. Mix wet ingredients
    • In a bowl, combine mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla.
  3. Combine dry ingredients
    • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Mix together
    • Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
    • Stir in optional nuts or chocolate chips.
  5. Fill jars
    • Spoon batter into jars, filling about ¾ full (batter will rise).
  6. Bake
    • Place jars on a baking sheet.
    • Bake 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool & serve
    • Let jars cool slightly.
    • Serve warm directly from the jar or cool completely and cover for storage.

Tips & Variations

  • Mini jars: use 4-oz jars for single servings; bake 15–20 minutes.
  • Microwave option: cook in microwave-safe jars for 1–2 minutes for a quick mug-style banana bread.
  • Flavor variations: add cinnamon, nutmeg, or a swirl of peanut butter or chocolate.
  • Gifting: seal with a lid and ribbon once cooled.

I can also give a no-bake “overnight” banana bread jar version if you want.
