Baked potato

Here’s a simple guide to a perfect Baked Potato 🥔—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside:


Ingredients (serves 1–2)

  • 1 large russet potato
  • 1–2 tsp olive oil or butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, cheese, chives, bacon bits, butter

Instructions

1. Prep the potato

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C / 425°F.
  2. Scrub potato clean and pat dry.
  3. Pierce the potato several times with a fork.
  4. Rub with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.

2. Bake

  • Place directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet.
  • Bake 45–60 minutes until skin is crispy and a fork slides in easily.

3. Serve

  • Slice open and fluff the inside with a fork.
  • Add butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits, chives, or any topping you like.

💡 Tips

  • Russet potatoes are ideal—they have a fluffy texture inside.
  • For extra crispy skin, rub with a bit of oil and salt before baking.
  • You can also microwave first for 5–7 minutes to reduce oven time, then bake 15–20 minutes for crispy skin.
