Easy Homemade Baked Beans

Ingredients (serves 3–4)

  • 2 cans (15 oz / 425 g each) baked beans or navy beans (drained)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp mustard (yellow or Dijon)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Optional: 1/4 cup cooked bacon pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix:
    • In a bowl, combine beans, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and bacon (if using).
  3. Bake:
    • Pour mixture into a baking dish.
    • Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes.
    • Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes until bubbly and thick.
  4. Serve:
    • Let cool slightly and enjoy.

Quick Stovetop Version

  • Combine everything in a saucepan.
  • Simmer on low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Smoky flavor: Add a pinch of smoked paprika.
  • Sweeter beans: Add a little maple syrup or honey.
  • BBQ style: Swap ketchup for BBQ sauce.
