Here’s a classic homemade apple pie 🥧🍎
Warm, simple, and comforting.

Classic Apple Pie

Ingredients

Filling

  • 6–7 apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • ¾ cup sugar (mix white + brown if you like)
  • 2 tbsp flour or cornstarch
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Crust

  • 2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tbsp butter (small pieces)
  • 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (optional, for egg wash)

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare apples: Peel, core, and slice apples.
  3. Mix filling: Toss apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and salt.
  4. Assemble pie:
    • Place one crust in a pie dish.
    • Fill with apple mixture.
    • Dot with small pieces of butter.
    • Cover with top crust, seal edges, and cut small slits on top.
  5. Egg wash (optional): Brush top with egg wash for a golden crust.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake 45–55 minutes, until crust is golden and filling is bubbly.
    • If crust browns too fast, cover edges with foil.
  7. Cool: Let cool at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra flavor: Add a splash of vanilla or caramel drizzle.
  • Crumb topping: Skip the top crust and use a streusel topping.
  • Best apples: Use a mix of sweet and tart apples.
