Apple pie

Posted on February 28, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic Apple Pie recipe — perfect for Christmas or any cozy occasion. It’s tender, spiced, and has a buttery, flaky crust.

🍎 Classic Apple Pie

Ingredients (for 1 9-inch pie)

Pie Crust

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 6–8 tbsp ice water

(Or use a pre-made pie crust for convenience)

Apple Filling

  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

Optional Topping

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust
    • Combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    • Add ice water 1 tbsp at a time until dough holds together.
    • Divide in half, shape into disks, wrap, and chill 1 hour.
  2. Prepare the filling
    • Toss apples with sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour until evenly coated.
  3. Assemble pie
    • Roll out one disk for the bottom crust and place in a 9-inch pie pan.
    • Fill with apple mixture.
    • Roll out second disk for the top crust, cover, and seal edges. Cut slits for steam vents.
  4. Optional egg wash
    • Brush top with beaten egg and sprinkle sugar for a shiny, sweet finish.
  5. Bake
    • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Bake 45–50 minutes until crust is golden and filling is bubbling.
    • Cover edges with foil if browning too fast.
  6. Cool & serve
    • Cool at least 2 hours before slicing so filling sets. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Tips & Variations

  • Mix tart and sweet apples for depth of flavor.
  • Add a pinch of cloves or allspice for a festive Christmas flavor.
  • Make a lattice top or decorative cutouts for a beautiful holiday presentation.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or caramel sauce for extra indulgence.
