Apple pie

Posted on February 28, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic Apple Pie recipe — tender, spiced apples in a buttery, flaky crust. Perfect warm with ice cream or on its own.

🍎 Classic Apple Pie

Ingredients (for 1 9-inch pie)

Pie Crust

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cold, cut into cubes
  • 6–8 tbsp ice water

(Or use a pre-made pie crust for convenience)

Apple Filling

  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (to thicken)

Optional Topping

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare crust
Combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add ice water 1 tbsp at a time until dough holds together. Divide in half, shape into disks, wrap, and chill 1 hour.
  2. Prepare filling
In a large bowl, toss apples with sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour.
  3. Assemble pie
    • Roll out one disk for the bottom crust and place in a 9-inch pie pan.
    • Fill with apple mixture.
    • Roll out second disk for the top crust, cover, and seal edges. Cut slits for steam vents.
  4. Optional egg wash
Brush top with beaten egg and sprinkle sugar.
  5. Bake
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake 45–50 minutes until crust is golden and filling is bubbling. Cover edges with foil if browning too fast.
  6. Cool & serve
Let cool at least 2 hours to set filling. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Tips

  • Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for balanced flavor.
  • Add 1 tsp vanilla extract or a pinch of ground cloves for extra depth.
  • Make a lattice crust for a classic presentation.
  • Pie can be frozen before baking for up to 1 month.

I can also give a quick 30-minute skillet apple pie or mini apple pie muffins recipe if you want something faster.
