Apple Fritters Recipe

Ingredients (makes ~8 fritters)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs

For the glaze (optional):

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

1. Make the batter

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar.
  2. In another bowl, beat eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
  3. Gradually stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined.
  4. Fold in diced apples.

2. Fry the fritters

  1. Heat oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium heat (about 350°F / 175°C).
  2. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil.
  3. Fry 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  4. Drain on paper towels.

3. Glaze (optional)

  • Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Drizzle over warm fritters or dip each fritter into the glaze.

  • Apple variety: Use Granny Smith for tartness or Honeycrisp for sweetness.
  • Baked version: Spoon batter onto a greased baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway.
