Amish Meatloaf

Here’s a classic, comforting Amish Meatloaf recipe—sweet, savory, and very homestyle 🍽️

🥩 Amish Meatloaf

Ingredients

Meatloaf

  • 1½ lb ground beef
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or crushed saltine crackers
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Sweet Topping

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    • 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line with foil.
  2. Mix Meatloaf
    • In a large bowl, combine milk and breadcrumbs.
    • Add eggs, onion, salt, pepper, and ground beef.
    • Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Shape
    • Press mixture into loaf pan or shape into a loaf on a baking sheet.
  4. Make Topping
    • Mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard.
    • Spread evenly over meatloaf.
  5. Bake
    • Bake uncovered for 60–70 minutes, until internal temp reaches 160°F (71°C).
  6. Rest & Serve
    • Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.

Tips

  • Don’t overmix or meatloaf will be dense.
  • Use half beef, half pork for extra tenderness.
  • Leftovers make great sandwiches.
