Here’s a classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich—golden, crispy, and melty 🥪🧀
Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Ingredients (serves 1–2)
- 2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
- 2–3 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your favorite)
- 1–2 tsp butter, softened
Instructions
- Prepare bread
- Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Assemble sandwich
- Place cheese slices between the unbuttered sides of the bread so the buttered sides are on the outside.
- Grill
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook 2–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Press lightly with a spatula for even grilling.
- Serve
- Slice in half and serve hot. Optional: with tomato soup or pickles.
Tips & Variations
- Cheese blend: Mix cheeses (cheddar + mozzarella) for extra gooeyness.
- Add-ins: Tomatoes, cooked bacon, caramelized onions, or avocado.
- Crispier crust: Use a bit more butter or a brush of mayonnaise on the outside.
- Oven version: Bake at 375°F (190°C) on a parchment-lined sheet for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway.
I can also give a gourmet grilled cheese with multiple cheeses and herbs or a quick microwave hack version.
