Ohhh yes β€” biscuits and gravy 🀍 pure comfort food. Fluffy biscuits + creamy sausage gravy = unbeatable. Here’s a classic, easy version you can absolutely nail at home.

Ingredients

For the biscuits

  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) cold butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) milk

(Shortcut: store-bought biscuits work too β€” no shame)


For the sausage gravy

  • 1 lb (450 g) breakfast sausage
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2 1/2 cups (600 ml) milk
  • Salt & lots of black pepper

Instructions

1. Make the biscuits

  1. Preheat oven to 220Β°C / 425Β°F
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt
  3. Cut in cold butter until crumbly
  4. Stir in milk just until combined
  5. Drop or roll biscuits onto a baking sheet
  6. Bake 12–15 minutes until golden

2. Make the gravy

  1. Brown sausage in a skillet over medium heat (don’t drain fat)
  2. Sprinkle flour over sausage, stir, cook 1 minute
  3. Slowly pour in milk, stirring constantly
  4. Simmer until thick and creamy (5–8 minutes)
  5. Season generously with black pepper and salt

3. Serve

  • Split hot biscuits
  • Ladle sausage gravy over the top
  • Eat immediately 😌

  • Cold butter = flaky biscuits
  • Gravy thickens more as it cools
  • If gravy gets too thick, add a splash of milk
